Ellen Hassett

Design Professional

Ellen joins the Stemach Design + Architecture team with 3+ years of experience as an Intern Architect.  She began her design career early on, attending every art class offered in high school including pottery, sculpture, painting, drawing, printmaking, and video production.  She then attended Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island, where she earned a B.S. and Master of Architecture.  During her undergraduate years, Ellen had the opportunity to study architecture for a semester in Florence, Italy - admiring and photographing many beautiful cities and landscapes. While pursuing her masters, she interned for the Newport Historic Preservation Society and the Community Partnership in Bristol, RI.  Her summers were always spent back home in Portland, Maine working as an Architect Intern.

Upon graduation, Ellen worked for an Architecture firm in Andover, Massachusetts. She worked extensively on a new elementary school project, in addition to various healthcare, commercial, and government projects.  She earned her LEED Green Associate certification, has completed the Intern Development Program requirements, and is working towards becoming licensed.

Born and raised on the coast of Maine, Ellen has been instilled with an appreciation for our natural world. She is constantly looking for new places and environments to explore, which led her to pack up her life (and skis) and drive cross country to start her next adventure in Bend, Oregon.  Ellen loves spending time in the mountains, skiing and backpacking, and being on the ocean with her family, boating and surfing.  She is excited to explore the Pacific Northwest and bring her knowledge and skills to Stemach Design + Architecture.
