Mark Connor

Design Professional

Growing up around historic Philadelphia, PA, Mark's interest in traditional architecture led him to a career in design of various influences. Beginning at Penn State University, he later moved to the deep south to earn his Bachelor of Architecture in the French Acadiana culture at the University of Louisiana.

Later, living in New Orleans, Mark formulated a unique connection of society's needs in the built environment and a culture's adaptation to the natural world around them and how they celebrate it. Working his way through college in the various construction trades, Mark learned first-hand how to translate design ideas into functionality.

Continuing his career in Bend, OR, Mark earned his LEED certification and worked on the first LEED gold certified building in Central Oregon for the Mid State Electric Cooperative in LaPine, OR in 2006. As a member of The International Darksky  Association, Mark was a founding member of the City of Bend Outdoor Lighting Ordinance Advisory Committee that helped to guide the city to enact an environmentally friendly outdoor lighting code.

Since completing the the Intern Development Program requirements, Mark is working towards licensure and is excited to bring his knowledge and skills to work at Stemach Design + Architecture after a hiatus as a stay-at-home dad.

Away from the studio, he enjoys the outdoor sights, sounds and flavors of the Pacific Northwest with his wife of 15 years and his 10 year old son.
