Matt Tynan

Architect

A headshot of Matt

Drawn to architecture from an early age, Matt ventured out to the great West to attend school at the University of Colorado in Boulder. After receiving his Bachelor’s of Environmental Design, Matt moved to Breckenridge in search of real-world experience.

Continuing on the path to licensure, Matt earned a Master’s of Architecture from the University of Colorado in Denver and completed the IDP process while working for Short & Brennan Architects. Under the direct guidance of the firm’s two principals, he developed a vast portfolio of commercial and industrial work and gained invaluable experience in all project phases.

Seeking a new adventure, Matt moved from Colorado to Bocas del Toro, Panama to explore a new culture and a different pace of life. Amidst the coconut palms and coral reefs, he prepared for the next phase of his career. After passing each of the seven Architectural Registration Exams, Matt moved back to the United States in search of a new place to call home. Love for mountain living and the great outdoors brought him to Bend in June 2013 where he quickly found complimentary ideals at Stemach Design + Architecture.

Outside of the office, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife and his favorite canine, exploring the Oregon forests, getting plenty of Vitamin D and sampling the unique craft beverages Bend has to offer. His other interests include freehand drawing, computer-based graphic design, live music, and new experiences.
