Matthew Tynan

Architect

Drawn to architecture from an early age, Matt ventured out to the great West to attend school at the University of Colorado in Boulder. Upon receiving a Bachelor’s of Environmental Design, he moved to Breckenridge, CO in search of real-world experience and powder days. Continuing on the path to licensure, Matt earned a Master’s of Architecture from the University of Colorado in Denver and completed the IDP process while working for Short & Brennan Architects in downtown Denver. Under the direct guidance of the firm’s two principals, Matt developed a strong portfolio of commercial and industrial work and gained invaluable experience in all project phases.

Seeking a new adventure, Matt moved from Colorado to Bocas del Toro, Panama to explore a different culture and a different pace of life. Amidst the coconut palms and coral reefs, he prepared for the next phase of his career and studied for the Architectural Registration Exams. After passing each of the seven exams on his first attempt, Matt moved back to the United States in search of a new place to call home. Still in love with mountain living and the great outdoors, he moved to Bend in June 2013 and quickly found employment with Stemach Design & Architecture.

Outside of the office, Matt enjoys spending time with his girlfriend and his favorite canine, exploring the Oregon forests, getting plenty of Vitamin D and sampling the unique craft beverages Bend has to offer. Other interests include freehand drawing, computer-based graphic design, live music and new experiences.
