A first of its kind in Bend, The Brown Owl renovation combines the mobility of a food cart with the permanence of a brick-and-mortar restaurant. A full bar and custom-built seating were provided inside, as well as a back-of-house dish-washing and storage area. A small seating area on the mezzanine above provides a unique vantage point of the long, linear bar and restaurant space below. Sustainably sourced timber and recycled materials take front-and-center in this ornate yet rustic eatery winning Stemach Design + Architecture the High Desert Design Council's 2016 Best of the High Desert Award for Repurposed and Upcycled materials.
